I'm hoping I can get him to dash down a few words about his experience here as I just showed up and took pictures and he is a far more eloquent writer than I am.

"Firstly I need to mention that these photographs were taken at the John Stevens Shop in Newport, Rhode Island, where I was fortunate to have trained briefly in 2012. A glimpse of my lowly apprentice work can be had in photos one and nine, otherwise the photos depict the work, tools and domain of three generations of the Benson family: John Howard, John Everett, and Nick, who get and deserve all the glory. I had to laugh at the sight of my name and the word "genius" in the same sentence, as they don't belong even in the same book. But Nick's genius has been certified by no less an authority than the MacArthur Foundation, which honored him with one of its famous grants in 2010. He's a great guy, supremely gifted and able to move pretty much at the speed of sound. These pictures were taken on my 32nd birthday, by happy coincidence shared by Lis's father Tony. Beautiful shots of a happy memory. Thanks for shooting and posting, Lis! Anyone remotely curious about this whole experience is welcome to check out the blog I kept whilst installed in Newport
Jesse is of course being way too modest. I knew he was brilliant when he was a wee lad and decided that I, his 10 years older angsty punk rock cousin was cool. Anyway, he really is a great talent and you can see more of his work on his Facebook Page which you should go like.
